Monkeytron Collective and Foam Dart Thunder are proud to present the UK’s first Nerf convention: “FOAM FEST”

This will take place on Saturday 9th March at the DW Stadium in Wigan. That day also marks the first FDT Stadium at the same venue – our first English stadium event.

FOAM FEST will showcase the best of UK Nerf with modders, game organisers and tactical gear all represented from our BritNerf family and beyond, and will run from 10am till 2pm.

FDT STADIUM will be running 3 sessions that day, with the first beginning at 1pm, allowing those attending FOAM FEST to take part at either 1pm, 4pm or 7.30pm. Early Bird discount tickets for the stadium event will be available from 21:00 on Wednesday 19th September here.

We’ll have lots more to share with you over the coming months, but for now put Saturday 9th March in your calendar. We look forward to seeing lots of you there, on a momentous day in the history of UK Nerf.

Here’s a preview of what to expect at the FDT Stadium event:

Terminal Infection tickets always sell quickly so to be sure of getting yours make sure you are online at 21:00 this Wednesday. Please note that tickets for the Dawn Patrol (early session) can only be purchased for players 14 and under and their families. This is to give as many younger players as possible the chance to play in the early session. These tickets will be on sale for 2 weeks only, then any remaining will be available to players of all ages.

iCombat Glasgow is a brand new concept for Foam Dart Thunder, utilising a custom built 16,000 sq foot laser tag arena for which we are creating some new scenarios for you to enjoy. We’ll also be laying down smoke with both smoke machines and smoke grenades! With pumping atmospheric music this will create a fantastic environment for Nerf! Please note that this event is only suitable for players 11 and over due to the venue insurance cover.

On Saturday 15th September we’ll be running our tried and tested games such as Lockdown, Flux and HvZ.

We’ll also be trying our smoke machine in a skate park for the first time ever!

We’re super excited to once again run Foam Dart Thunder in an English skate park. Weather permitting we’ll use some of the outdoor area as well!

FDT Stadium was a huge success and we’re expecting even more players this time around. We spotted some things we want to tweak and we can’t wait to see the players reactions on Saturday 20th October at the second event.

For the next 8 weeks we’ll be playing for real and keeping score as the points in the league roll up to decide our Champions!

Remember, all equipment is provided, just register, buy your ticket and come along. And we’re privileged to be part of the Blaster Tag Association, your home for competitive foam sports. All league results will also be tracked here so your play will be visible on a global scale. We’ll also be storing video and pictures on both the FDT and BTA sites.

Using a sports stadium is something I’ve wanted to do as long as I’ve wanted to run the shopping mall event. I approached both Edinburgh football teams and as most local football fans will know Heart of Midlothian FC are undergoing some building works at their stadium with no set completion date, so can’t accommodate us at this point.

However, Hibernian FC have the perfect multi level stand for us to use for FDT Stadium, the “Famous Five” stand. We’ll be using both lower and upper concourse levels connected by stairwells at either end. This will not be a zombie themed event, but we’ll run 4 two hour sessions on a non match Saturday which will take place in either May or June. The first session should be 10:00 – 12:00, with the last session being 19:00-21:00. This should allow most players the chance to come along to a session.

We are right at the start of the planning stage, but given the experience we have from the Secret Bunker and Terminal Infection shopping mall events, and what we have learned from those, I expect the FDT Stadium events to be just as enjoyable for our players. I’ll be deploying our FDT cubes for some cover, as well as “event lighting” on the upper level.

The feedback after Terminal Infection 2 last weekend has been amazing so we were keen to get the next event booked up quickly. We had made some tweaks to the format after TI1 and they seemed to pay off.

Edinburgh Evening News Terminal Infection story

Both sessions will pit teams of Military versus Scientists just like our August event Foam Dart Bunker, but this time we have the added threat of Zombies! Players from age 8 are welcome, and during the first session we’ll ensure the zombies aren’t too scary, but we’ll ramp up the scare factor on the second session. To be clear, the lights in the mall will stay on, but we will be adding effects to create a great atmosphere in which to Nerf!

Planning has been going on for months now and we’re almost there. As well as the zombie actors and the effects, we’ll have our video crew back and also our event photographer.

This is the final “Main Mission”. Both teams were tasked with solving clues leading them from room to room, while battling it out against eachother in the bunker corridors. They would eventually locate 2 pieces of code that would unlock the safe hidden deep within the bunker. They would have to decide whether to join forces to open the safe and find out what lay within….
